Angelwing in 2 day old cochin chick??

I don't have a picture of her, but she's got more wingfeathers than the other cochin chick, and they stick out (especially more on one side than the other) just like the chick pictured in the thread below... Please... is there anything I can do?

All you can do is watch and wait.  Keep food in front of them and lots of fresh water.

Keeper of 26 hens,  4 PW Leghorns, 1 leghorn mix, 1 FBCMarans, 1 Australorp, 1 Buff Orpington, 2 Mama Olive Eggers w/ 15 chicks each, 1 EE, a Barred Rock, a RIR, a CQ, 1 Delaware, 1 Black Star, a Splash Ameraucana, 3 W/BW Ameraucana pullets, 5 polish, 2 Welsummers and 41 juvies of various breeds. YIKES!  Time to SELL some chickens!

Okay... but... again.. I only have 2 of these Blue Cochins, and I really want them to be pretty birds... I don't need handicapped critters running around...

Is there any kind of taping/fixing I can do to the wing?

Well... The wing has only gotten worse.  I did notice that if I took the wing, extended it, and then tucked it into proper position, and then set her loose, it would stay like that until she flapped or preened....   So I got it into proper position and then taped it there with some scotch tape.  She can still move her wing, but she can't fully extend the tip right now.... hopefully that will help correct it as she's only a week old...?

that chicken in that link looked like a frizzle.excuse me it is a frizzle.

In my barred rock pullets, when they were a week or two old, a lot of them looked like they had angel wing.  Probably a third of them.  I was pretty concerned at first, then I think I posted something about it, and someone said basically not to worry, that it might just be growing in oddly, but it would straighten out on it's own.  I hadn't found anything on how to fix angel wing, just that it is usually found in water fowl, and that it was caused from too much protein in the diet.  I decided that I didn't care if their wings looked funny, since they used them just fine, already flapping them as they ran around.  My barred rocks are almost six weeks old now, and their feathers are perfect(and they fly/coast/jump really well).  So it is possible that some chicks just feather funny to start with, then when they get their full set of feathers, everything sorts itself out.

this I just found in the archives.

I really need to get a picture of it.... need to find the cord to charge my camera.... literally, the feathers from the end of her wing (the section after the last joint) are all splayed out at a weird angle...  And only just the one wing.

big_smile  Well, it is weird, she's like... missing feathers on that wing.

Anyway, I taped it into "proper" position overnight... and took the tape off this morning, and she's keeping the wing in the proper position!!!! big_smile  So I'm not too worried any more.   But wow, that was a fast fix... must be because they are growing so fast!
