Can Chickens eat NUTS ?

Thanks everyone! The girls are getting whole nuts and enjoying them. And thanks Den, because I was thinking of chopping them all up for them! They do seem to need things to keep them busy, and nuts are so healthy! Does anyone have any good suggestions for toys/treats to keep them busy? Usually it's not a problem because they are let out of the coop most days, but on the days that are too rainy or snowy I worry about them being too wet. My Golden Sex Link, Dottie, sits in the "patio" area of the coop and talks loudly. It seems she is bored! I tried poking holes in a water bottle and filled it with scratch so when they moved it, the treats would fall out. The only problem is that they weren't interested in rolling it around! I have a plastic stick with an "x" bottom, and I will put a tomato or some other treat on it and hang it in their coop. They love playing what we call pinata, but it doesn't last too terribly long! I hung some treat blocks that I made for them, but they don't seem to like "working" to get them out of the suet basket I put them in. Any suggestions will be appreciated!
