hatching geese eggs - Page 2

Yes ive been reading up over it all too and everyone does thing differently. Ive decided to not worry about it, im doing my humidity 40/50 and then bump it up on day 27 to 80. Im hand turning 3 times a day and leaving them out for 5 to 10 minutes to cool then spraying they when I put them back in. If I have any problems along the way im sure I can holler for help and everyone will come a running  lol  BYC is nice like that and has great people who arw willing to help and share advice.

Well I presume if the gander is doing his job then yeah..they should be fertile. I checked mine last night and all 4 are looking good so far. Lets just hope I can hatch these suckers out and not loose any. All my eggs look the same inside and I could only see veining in 1 of them and possible veining in another. But surley if they all look the same they should all be goos. darn those shells must be thick. Im used to duck eggs that I can candle in the bator and see things moving...these eggs Im candling and squinting looking for things to move.   Goose people...can you see the goslings moving round in there like you can with ducklings or are the shells to thick.

I'm able to see embryo movement in my Sebastopol eggs at least.  I think if you have a good enough light it should work.

I just took my Sebestopols out to cool & mist.  I candled again. 1 for sure is not fertile. 1 has something in it,  just not sure what is going on   hu  I gave it the sniff test and put it back in the incuabtor.   1 I think may have quit, had some darkish spots,  put that back in also. The other 2 I could see movement for sure.  smile

fl   for all our hatches...

I am on day 13.

I set one Dewlap egg along with 5 Pekin Duck eggs on Sat 3/26 at 9pm   I have yet to candle because I was waiting until one week has gone by and I am going to lay it flat in on the turner rack.  It was a shipped egg and was afraid of the air cell being detached.

I will candle tomorrow night and see how it goes.  Hopefully I can get some good pics when I do it.

2 meat head dogs, 2 cats,  1 RIR and 1 Welsummer hen, and 2 crazy Roos one's a SLW and the other RIR.

Looking forward to hearing how all your eggs are doing wink

Would love some Sebbies but the Dewlaps take up all my pens as keeping them in 3 groups for our Buff breeding programme tongue

Our diary's updated and on day 8.5 but the mother has gone broody on the last 5 eggs hmm

I would like to join in here too please.   I just won 4 Sebbie eggs on Ebay yesterday and  I have a dozen mixed duck eggs on the way too.    I was panicking a little as I wasn't sure if it was ok to incubate them both together but Gofaster put my mind at ease on that one.    I will be following your progress with interest as I have never hatched geese before and only hatched ducks once.  Interested espeically to see the views on misting or not.   Happy hatching vibes for us all!

Highlander...welcome, I think all of us who have posted on this thread are new to hatching goose eggs so we will all be able to learn together and hopefully not worry about it. Im not, if they hatch, they hatch, if they dont... well..you learn by your mistakes!!!
