This light works well for my cassowary eggs, but i've tried it on emu eggs and it works enough to tell if somethings in it or not, it's super bright.  http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_9-Bulb-LED-Flashlight-Performance-Tools_10090078-P_N3092_A%7CGRP2027_____

Wow!  What an inexpensive light for working on emu eggs!  Thanks for sharing!  big_smile

I've got this exact flashlight..and there is NO way it'll show you what's inside an Emu egg.

I agree.  I have an extremly bright flashlight so much that it had a warning on it when I bought it.  It doesn't evan give the eggs a glow.

The only test I've been able to do is wait till day 35 and do a float test.

I think maybe he posted the wrong link as $2 isn't even an investment for me & I doubt that flashlight would get through an emu egg.

I live on a farm in Israel with an American Hairless Terrier from Wales (Ellah), HER cat (Señor Pussy Cat), a rescued Galah (Chrysi), her cage buddy cockatiel (Mio), 3 featherless bantam chickens (Gimpy & co), a Barockpinto colt (Felix D), a Cameroon Hair Lamb (Shoshana) & a Betta fish (Logan)

I went and checked again, and I did notice that some eggs were harder to see through than others, maybe it's the density. It's not going to glow like a lamp of course, but if you're in a completely dark room or closet and butt this light up to the large or small end of the egg I can see well enough to know if the egg is developing or not, and you have to hold your hand around the light so no light filters between the lens and the shell. If you cant see anything then theres something growing...and you still should be able to see into the air cell.
