Here's a link with what you're dealing with, please read it all the way through. http://ohioline.osu.edu/vme-fact/0018.html
The
more time you relinquish treating your rooster and other chickens, the closer to they come to death.

Sevin dust isn't originally meant for chickens, but it kills bugs including mites, lice, and fleas- so dust all your birds with it, avoid getting it in their feed. The dust won't effect the eggs so you can continue to eat them. Good luck!

here in central louisiana, it is difficult to find the origional recipe 7 dust. i was told by the older farmers that it was taken off the market and changed. I went to an older feed and seed store that has been around for a while, and found some cans of the origional. I also use diatomaceous earth. to apply, i spent the 11.00 and bought an applicator for "dusting". I decided since i use 7 dust in my garden and have several coops and quite a bit of chickens, it would be worth the money. the applicator has a small canister at the bottom, and a tube that looks like a cheap childs water gun on top, and u just pump it back and forth and is spreads a fine dust over the area.

Sevin dust has a pesticide in it- DE doesn't.  DE will not do anything if it is wet at all because it relies on sharp edges of the diatom to cut the bug.  If no sharp edges no dead bug.

Do you all think I should give my roo some Baytril?
He stays with the other chickens, but keeps his distence.  then he just stands, some times he keeps his tail down.
Do you think mites could really do this to him?
and why is he the only one that seems like this?
