Jacksonville, Florida city limits - Page 4

Within Jacksonville city limits, chickens may only be kept in districts that are zoned as "Rural Residential" or "Agricultural." Additionally, the chickens' coop may not be located within 50 feet of your property line.

For most of use living in the city, this means that raising chickens is prohibited. However, there is an organization here that is trying change this. It's called "Hens in Jax." Below is the link. I encourage you to join the group and to sign the online petition found on the Hens in Jax website.

I'm new to Jacksonville, how did the petition end up? I'd like a few chickens.

I currently have 7 hens and do plan on moving a them, my dogs and car lol
I lived in the area before, but country clubs etc. I know they aren't allowed there but my husband and I are looking to buy

If you look up your property via the jax website. It will tell you what kind of property you have. If it is listed as Rural resident(RR) then you dont need the silly permit. However if you are not considered Rural Residential(RR) then you will have to see if they have any permits available to apply for.

US Government from the federal level down to the city level, must be controlled by the free people of these United States and not by the rich and powerful, who want nothing more than to better their own pockets and make the poor pay for it all. I speak from experience. The media do nothing but manipulate the minds of the weak into doing their bidding.

I thought I read in the Times Union recently that Jacksonville was now allowing backyard chickens.  Fortunately, I live in Middleburg so there is no problem here.

Good luck.
