Here are few pictures of the soaps I made yesterday

First I made one with a fragrance named Monkey Farts which is a banana Choolate smell for kids. My grands wanted me to make it. I don't have all the fancy molds so I make them out of card board boxes or whatever till i can afford the better stuff.

That is so cool I would love to learn how to make my own soaps. I will have to do some research just trying to get garden planted bet this would make a great winter project.

it is fun anytime. I was doing a little soap class with a good friend yesterday afternoon. She is very handy with tools and is making a soap box mold. She looked the some I had and thinks she can do them. She is gathering up her digital thermoter, Digital kitchen scale that weighs up to 11 lb with the tare button. and a stick blender.
I am going to keep making soap and hopefull have enough for all my christmas gifts this year. I am having a hard time keeping enough just made for my family. They don't think they can use store bought soap anymore.

Thanks BB. I used Carnary yellow lab color from Brambleberry as well as Java Beans colorant from them as well. I just mixed 1cc of colorant with 1 oz of water and then poured up a cup of soap batter at trace and stirred in the color. I layered then and it turn out so well. Smells yummy too. the large green bars are some I poured into a plastic storage tub and set in the freezer for a couple of hr and did not let it go thru the gel stage. I cut in to two large bars. it was leftover I couldn't get into the small wood mold I put the rest of the batter in.

Great idea to start this thread over here Julie !!! Thanks !!

Making soap is one of my favorite things to do. It is so relaxing and makes the house smell divine !! I've been making soap for about 10 years now - I haven't used a bar of store bought soap in a good 15 years, and I never will use one again. There is just no comparison, as far as I am concerned.

Wow - you have some colorful soap going on there Julie !! Maybe one of these days I'll give pigments a shot. I've just always made my plain. I don't use expensive molds either. I found a guy on the internet that made my molds. I gave him the dimensions that I wanted and he made them out of poplar or pine (I think - who knows???) unstained, unfinished. THey are just a plain long loaf mold with a lid. They hold 25 bars, 3 inches thick.

I'm making soap this evening - I'm making my signature chamomile/Neroli. I also ordered fragrance oils in Moroccan Fig, and Dragonsblood. I'm still on the fence with the Dragonsblood and Moroccan Fig. I've never used fragrance oils in my soap. I'm into all natural - no chemicals - so I've always used only pure essential oils and the herbs that I grow myself. I'm going to give it a shot and see how I like it with the fragrance oils.

I'll keep you posted on how the two new fragrances come out.

I went with the Moroccan fig like you sounded so good. One of my favorite lotions is festive vanilla fig from BBW so was hoping this would be good. And went with camomile on your suggestion that it was your fav. I'm sure I know what camomile smells like but just cant come up with it. The others I bought were a coconut and a pineapple cilantro. So hoping I could mix these for a piña colada scent or even plain. I looked for a coconut lime verbena on brambleberry but didn't see one and hated to order from several places. Maybe next time. The eBay auction showed several wooden boxes like you describing I just picked a cheaper one made of PVC so it's non stick and doesn't have to be lined supposedly. Wish I would have done like Julie and just used what was available. I just searched eBay for soap loaf molds and there were several options

Kassandra - if you want to make the chamomile, I'll send you the recipe. You will need Neroli essential oil and you need to "cook" your chamomile in the olive oil to infuse it. If you want it, I'll send you the recipe. The chamomile is my favorite of any soap I've ever used. It really is wonderful.

chamomille is my fav too. I ordered dry Chamomille flowers for 5.99 a huge bag of them. I think I still have enough to finish out the year. This is my family and friends all time favorite for the face.
BB I can send you a website if your interested with Wood molds the have drop down sides and ends. They are all very reasonably priced. Brambleberry has one I would like to own that is wood but has a insert that lines it and has dividers for bars. It would be perfect for my two lb batches. Maybe i can get it for Christmas this year. Cardboard works well. I have some boxes I have used over and over and put a cardboard lid on then wrap in towel.s
