any ideas for things that could help chickens lay better besides chicken feed? like other things you could feed them besides store bought feed

I find that mine slack off if they eat alot of stuff besides their laying crumbles. My neighbors kid fed them alot of snack one day this week and the next couple of days they were a little down on egg count.

A high protein dry cat or dog food can be used as a supplement or treat.
I have found that the smaller size works the best.
The kind I get is only a few bucks for a ten pound bag.
Just throw a few handfulls to them every few days.

I had  Naked Necks  when Naked Necks weren't cool!

Lundy Wildcat Blues, Black RoundHeads, Black Mcraes, Black Shufflers, Black Bonanzas, Clarets

Brown Reds, Spangled RoundHeads, Blueface Hatch, Malays, Shamos and BBS Naked Necks!

yes the green plants and things do make some nice orange yolks. now for the bugs...... would it be ok to buy crickets from a local store that sells them for fishing and feed them to the chickens?

we have tried that before and results were pretty good but cat food and dog food is so expensive here, even our own cats get the cheap stuff but they dnt seem to mind haha
