Any ideas on if our newest edition (a rhode island red) is a male or a female? Any help would be appreciated!

Well it does have thick legs and a large comb. How old is it?

Just a guess, because we don't know how old it is, but I would say rooster.

Looking for some Silkies that I can show in 4H. If you know of anyone who has them and could ship, please let me know.

I'm swaying toward a rooster also. But need to know how old to get a better educated guess.

It almost appears to be developing rooster saddle feathers.

NO possible way for it to be developing saddle feathers at this age. It still has down on its head. I would NOT say any judgments on the sex this early. Could go both ways at this point. It won't starting getting any sex-characterizing feathers until it goes through the juvenile molt.

We just got it from the feed store this afternoon and they were not very clear on the age, my girlfriend has become attached to "rita" but we cannot have a roo. Is there anyway that i could find out for sure the sex of "rita"?? or is the best guess that "rita" is a "ricardo"????
