when can you tell if a turkey is a girl or boy?

If It is bigger then it will be a boy and if it is small it will be a girl. These people are a local hatchery type business so I picked out my turkeys based on that. I hope they were right. By know I talking about that round thing above the beak.

Let me add that I am a newbie at turkey poults or turkeys at all. I just finally got mine a week ago but have been gathering info on here and those I know in person about turkeys.

If you hover your pointer over the user name, a pop up will provide you with information about the poster. If the poster has not been on BYC in a very long time, it wiill provide that information.

Do not expect a reply from someone who has not been on BYC in many years. In this case, @pkw has not been on BYC since May 14, 2010.

Snood size on very young poults is not an accurate indicator of sex of the poult. Snood size on 6 months and older turkeys can be an indicator of sex.
