I have 15 of them and love them, they follow me around the yard in hopes I will give them a treat. They can can be a bit noisy in the morning when they are laying.  big_smile   but not too bad. When I order next time I'll get more of these and I think I'll try some black stars also.

When I ordered my first chicks, I ordered 5 red star & 5 black star.  That was almost 3 yrs ago and I still have 3 of each left & a couple of them are still laying.  I prefer the red star over the black star in temperment.  They both a sweet natured, but the red stars are just a little bit sweeter.  I highly recommend them.

I here that they are somewhat flighty and not a good choice for begginers. What say you?

They'd be an excellent choice for beginners, imho, if eggs are your thing.

They do have a good temperment. I just got 4 and even when they are chicks they are very nice. But the older they get the more they eat. You have to feed them 2 a day even if you give them a 3 quart feeder.

I have 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 goats, 2 barred rock females, too many to count roo br, 5 golden sebrights, 4 silkies, 1 silkie pekin mix, i think, 4 welsummers, 4 red stars, 1 rhode island red, 1 tetra tint, 4 partridge rock, and 3 unknown.
