Eliza's Introduction

Hi Everyone!  I've been lurking on the site for awhile, so I decided it was time I officially got in here.  I've appreciated all the ideas I've already seen.

(1)  Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?  I got my chicken and pheasant June 28, 2010 from a Craig's List add advertising a free "special needs" chick

(2)  How many chickens do you have right now?  1

(3)  What breeds do you have?  1 silkie/frizzle bantam hen and 1 red golden pheasant hen

(4)  How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?  last summer I read everything I could get my eyes on concerning raising poultry in a backyard setting

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?  Love to read and garden

(6)  Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Married with 6 yr old daughter; I have lots of pets - rabbit, veiled chameleon, rats, cat, several fish tanks, ball python, 2 leopard geckos; I am a high school science teacher and use many of my animals as part of my classes;  I also am a facilitator for the University of Phoenix where I teach an environmental science course
