Someone needs to make sure to get these MaransX and the purebred Marans cockerels from us! The Marans crosses are out of a blue wheaten, so they are blue, with lots of beautiful wheaten features on their hackles, backs and wings. They are huge and would make a very stately barnyard rooster. They are crossed with Australorp hens, so their offspring should be very productive.

The Marans is a wheaten, is finally getting in enough feathers to start looking like a real chicken, and comes from very nice lines.

Oh, and I forgot to mention - I still have that jar recycling offer:

For every pint or smaller size canning jar you bring me (clean, not chipped, lids don't have to be with), I will pay 30 cents. (or deduct that total from what you buy).

Thanks!!!

So I am in from for a minute from beiing outside and wrangling up birds. Is anyone good at telling Ameraucana/Easter Eggers boys from girls at about age 6-8 weeks? I got ird of the obvious boys several weeks ago and I think that these are all girls. If somone would like to come over to my booth onece you have set up yours, and help me figure out boys from girls on about 4-5 young ones I would appreciate it.

the excitement continues to build around here. I have been going non-stop with shopping all day and will soon be packing stuff in the car.

Next thing on the list is marking the birds i'm taking, followed by cutting up apple branches for the chew stick, then digging up iris bulbs, then gathering up apples, then cutting a few pine branches, and I could go on and on and on.lol

IF any one has an interest I've been saving feed sacks to be made into bags but the nice lady I was saving them for isn't able to come.  Let me know.  I'll probably throw them in in case I can get a bag  "swap" opportunity.

"God feeds the birds but he doesn't throw it into the nest"

Blessed with a wonderful spouse and kids along with a multitude of animals.  My chickens are mostly blue copper marans but a few "fun" ones and my dd lavender bantam ameracauna's and serama's as well. I also really enjoy my saxony ducks and call ducks.

I have an addition to the list for people who were looking for Silkies...

I just got off the phone with Marge Best, and for anyone who knows her, knows she's got some AMAZING birds!!!

She and Ed are coming tomorrow, and she will be bringing the following:

Bearded Silkies in white, blue, splash, gray, black, buff, and lavender.  Most will be pairs, but she may part with some single girls.

She also has 2 non-bearded lavender girls available.

She may also bring bantam Cochins in white and blue, and possibly a splash male or 2.

I won't be talking to her again tonight, so it will be first come, first served for these birds.  smile  Trust me, if you get Silkies or Cochins from Marge, you won't be sorry.  wink  She said that ALL of these birds are at LEAST 4H-show / breeder quality, but many will be open-show quality.  She doesn't keep lesser birds around.
