Buying eggs for a broody hen

I have several hens that are going broody and I have been considering buying some eggs to put under them. I would like to try some of the varieties of eggs offered here on BYC . Has anyone done this, or is this a bad idea?

i thnk its a good idea, i was just thinking that too!
but then again, im so new i might not know what im saying! lol
it would happen naturally if there was a rooster, but we dont have one by choice (neighbors). so i was goiong to do that too.

Last time I had that idea by the time I got the eggs(3 days)the hens weren't broody anymore..haha. Just make sure you have a bator just in case the hens don't cooperate
