Is this CL on my goat?

That's not CL. Definitely has some serious skin issues going on. Lice, mites...etc. I'd be taking the poor thing to have a skin scraping done.

This is what I was thinking, but I have only had goats for a year, so no nothing really. My small female Jack Russel has Flea allergies though and when we figured this out last year, it was because she scratched and got a secondary skin infection. The picture of your goat reminds me of her skin . If not lice or mites, I would think secondary infection from rubbing. But you need to figure out how it started as well as finding a cure for it.

I just bought him a couple days ago.....and I asked the owner and she said it was from him rubbing in and out of the feeder? I don't think the collar helps either and we don't have that kind of a feeder here so I think I am gonna worm him first. Also get blue kote or powder of some kind for lice, fleas, mites. I was thinking of mange too?

Thank you for your help. I am going to test him for cl and cae anyways though very soon.

I would clean it good and keep it dry for a few days to see if that helps, but it really does look like it might be mange or at least a secondary infection, you may need to take him to the get for a skin scraping.

Definately not CL. I would give him ivermectin in case its mites. You have to give it by injection. It doesnt look like its from a feeder because the hair would have a different break pattern and the skin looks too angry. Sometimes rubbing on feeders can open the area to fungus though.

equyss makes a nice shampoo and spray called micro teck (tek?) and you should get some and use it. If its fungal it will knock it out.

have fun shampooing a goat

Hi, Ive been raising goats for over six years. I would treat this with a product called Cylence that can be found at a feed store. It takes care of both the inside and outside of a goat. You use the product on the skin. When I get any type of hair loss it is the first thing I reach for. Hope this helps. Poor baby!
