leaky poultry waterer nipples

Maybe... the plastic was warped as you installed them into the drilled hole. If the hole was not the correct size and you had to force them 'too' much, this would cause them to be squeezed out of a circular shape and allow leaks. Maybe start over and recheck the drill hole size. Only thing left to think it could be! Good luck!
 
Are there actually nipples made for the dif. Direction..aka.. vertical or horizontal?? And should they have some kind of spring in them..or does the nipple supposed to slide in freely..as the ones I have do.. from either direction
 
Horizontal nipples are the best, they can be found on amazon. You don't need to use anything on the threads. Drill an 11/32 hole and screw them in, leave 2 - 3 threads showing, don't screw them all the way in.
