My Father-in-Law got us chickens as a joke for Easter. And all my Mother-in-Law could tell me was that the box said Red Pullets and White Pullet. I have no idea what kind of chickens I have, but they resemble the ones in this thread. The white one.. not sure what she is. She's definitely the friendliest of them all, that's for sure! And I'm wondering if one's a rooster.. it's quite a bit larger than the other red ones, but at the same time is the least feathered? It's also the least friendly. So yeah.. I've been searching all over the place trying to figure out what I ended up with!

You should take pictures and post a topic asking what they are. People here love that game! And boo on getting chickens as a joke. I'm glad you're taking care of them -- they're lucky little Easter chicks.

ETA: And I concur on 1 week of age. The wing feathers come in pretty early on production birds.

I got two Production Red Pullets yesterday (5/1) and was told they were hatched on Monday (4/29) and they look just like yours feather growth and all! I was skeptical at the age due to the wing feathers coming in already. Hatched last Monday? But they are still small like an egg size... I suppose they were bred to mature really quickly for maximum egg production in the shortest timespan?

I like how one is small and dark and the other is larger and fluffier- easy to tell who is who! REALLY hoping they are indeed both pullets, as the small dark one has quite the dominant personality already!

These are the girls age 3 days on an excursion from the brooder box inside to their future nesting box in their coop outside :) They made the cutest little pecking noises on the wood!
