I'm having raccoon problems right now (it's gotten two of my ducks, three hens, and four quail) and I've decided to stop keeping coturnix. Four of my five are gone, but I have one little lonely one left. Are there any coturnix people in the area who would take this lonely quail and give him a good home? I think he's male, I'll have to check again when I get home, though. I don't want him going to a home where he'll be meat, I just want him to go somewhere where he can live out his days with other quail. He's wild-type coloring.

I'm planning on trapping this raccoon and relocating him to the middle of nowhere before he takes any more of my birds!

Karen, let me know when you're planning to have your sale. I'd like a couple more Marans, whichever color, and also Ameraucanas. I like to keep that egg color variety going.

I came home from lunch with "Chicken Lovin" friends in Oakdale to hatching Delawares. So far there are 7 fuzzy yellows running around in the incubator & more pipping. I will leave them til tomorrow & see what pops out. They do soooooooooooo much better when I don't touch & don't open that dang door. I think the BCMs & Wheaten Mrans in that tray are later hatch dates by a couple of days so as long as they are not pipped yet I will take out the Delawares tomorrow. I keep telling myself to stop staggering my hatches so much. It makes it harder to keep track of.....LOL

Just thought of something Jules...............One of the friends I had lunch with today has Extra BCM cockerels that are 10 weeks old now. You probably have enough though. I don't know what she plans to do with them.
She bought straight run chicks from a friend of ours & 8 out of the 10 were cockerels. I don't know that she will butcher herself. I hear they are really tasty meat. I haven't tried any yet but have some coming up before too long.
  This dang weather. It's getting ready to rain again. I went & covered the grow out pens.

Hi all, I posted this in the bay area listing, but wanted to see if anyone wanted our Ameraucana roosters here.  We visit Amador city regularly, so could get these roosters between here and the foothills. 

We got some straight run Ameraucanas from John Blehm last year and my brother in laws have been keeping the two roosters - a Wheaton and a Silver.  They don't want them anymore. They grew up together and are friendly with one another.  If anyone in the SF bay area or anywhere in the deliverable area up to the foothills wants two roosters (both for $10.00 (gas money essentially)) other than for eating, let me know ASAP and we'll see if we can arrange a delivery.  They are beautiful.

Steve gave us a beautiful Frizzled white Cochin. It's EXACTLY what we were looking for. Thank you so much Karen for being the middle person in making this happen. Paige is in love with her new "Snowball".

Hey Sarah, Olga's sitting on her SECOND clutch this year!  (I got her from you last year as a 3-day-old chick in July.)  This time, some of the chicks are her own offspring!  It's going to be interesting to see what the chicks grow up to look like.  She's a cross between your EE hen & your American game roo.  Our roo is a black mottled java mix (though I don't know with what--I was told he was full BMJ but he has yellow legs & they aren't supposed to have yellow legs).  Can't wait to see what these mutts look like!

I have a special place in my heart for mutt chicks. 

How exciting!!!! We still have the EE hen and AM roo. I have another baby about 2 weeks old you can have if your in the area any time soon.
