Hi all -

Would those of you with automatic pop door openers give me recommendations on which brand to purchase please? We are going on vacation at the end of June and the person checking our animals won't be able to let the girls out in the morning or close them up at night. I need to purchase something by the middle of June. I'd be interested in building something myself if it were really easy.

Thanks!

What sort of motor are you using? If it it an automobile antennae then pretty much any 12 volt battery will work for a few days. If you want a longer lasting setup (that'd be my advice), I would recommend using a rechargeable sealed lead acid (SLA) type of battery. You can buy these all over (including sporting good stores near the deer feeders).

$30 for 8 amp hour 12 volt battery with charger at Cabelas ($20 without the charger)

I just bought the electronic doorkeeper which runs of AA batteries. I did a lot of research first and couldn't find any bad reviews on this door. I purchased mine straight from the manufacturer in Germany, they were about $40.00 cheaper then foys pigeon supplies. It took 10 days to arrive.
Good luck!

We have the type like Foy's carries. We like it a lot. We bought our second one from the manufacturer in Germany, too! The first one we got from Well's in the UK. This was before Foy's started carrying them.
