I got 20 ducklings yesterday and they were all fine running around and eating and drinking. Then this morning one of my ducklings looked almost as if it were dead, but was still breathing. He can't lift his head unless he's startled, and he's not eating or drinking. Can anyone help me out, is there anything I can do for him?

What are you feeding them? most chick starters don't have everything a duckling need to be healthy. they should really be on game bird starter or have vitamins added to their water. If there is a Tractor Supply Co. near you I would go pick up a pack of Save-a-Chick, it's a starter supplement. There is another Vitamin you could give him, I'm not 100% sure what it is I believe it is Poly vi-sol? It's found at your local pharmacy but you have to get the one without iron in it. I can't remeber the dosage but I'm sure someone will come along soon that is much more knowledgeable than me to give you the exact amounts. I want to say its 2 drops in the morning and at night? Good luck to you and your baby

Thank you for responding. But I did put some of the save a chick stuff in their water like it said to last night, which was the first day I got them. So I don't think it has anything to do with their vitamins, but maybe I'm wrong I have no idea.

Right now I have 2 ducklings that live inside with me until they feather out. They eat the same and drink the same things but one needs a little more vitamins than the other. I didn't figure that out until her legs couldn't support her 2 days after getting her

Sometimes it's a sudden thing that takes longer to clear up than it took for it to happen. She gets extra niaccin now and is doing much better although it took 2 weeks to get her to where I thought she should be. The poly-visol should be 4 drops on the beak once a day and maybe that will help.
