Im building my chicken run right now and i need ideas of roosts to put up and how to put them up, should i do branches or 2 x 4s... the roost in the coop is a 2 x 4. Also how tall should they be off the ground, the run is 5 ft tall, I'm thinking one lower roost and one higher one. Thanks

3 Easter Eggers, 3 Silkies, 1 Silver Laced Wyandotte, 1 Golden Laced Wyandotte, 1 Buff Orpington, 1 Welsummer, 1 White Leghorn, 1 Partridge Cochin, 1 Barred Rock, 1 White Crested Black Polish, and 2 Buff Laced Polishes.....for now!

You can look at the roost on my BYC page pics. I pivot mine to make compost removal easy.

Just a old coot with some backyard chickens and a garden.

We did 1x3 in a half octagon shape. But for some reason they all like to sit on the right side, the shortest bar together. lol They squeeze in a 18 inch space, and leave the other 6 feet just sitting there. Silly chickens.
