Mornning All,

I am back from my visit with my parents in Michigan. It was 80* and sunny every day - very unusual weather for March in Michigan. They had a mild winter too, even stranger than our mild winter. DH did a good job with my birds, I think he secretly enjoyed it. The broodies wouldn't let him check under them though.

Hopefully the gutters are all in tact. They can be a real hassle once they are damaged, I had seamless gutters installed several years ago, and that lasted for a while but once they got hit and filled with large hail and started sagging they were no longer draining coreectly and caused more problems, so I removed them. I think taking them down was harder than when they went up.

I'm doing really good today, enjoying the day off, today and tomorrow, Will be better shortly after I candle some eggs and make room in the incubator for more. Hope to get a few more things done around here as the day progresses.

 How are you today?

How many per flat on the buns so I can figure out how many more are needed.

I am really going to need more power strips I believe but will let you know on the extension cords.

I hope you can get stuff done there.  I can't get anything done here for the rain!  I know we need it but it sure is messing up my plans, LOL.

Edit: They're from good bloodlines if you're interested in that sort of thing (I'm not).

I'm kind of male heavy at the moment, when I got guineas they gave me 6 roos :p I have two young brahma roos and I don't know yet if any of the banties are roos, I'm thinking not, but they're still on the young side to tell. So I have 6 roos, 2 young roos and 15 chicks...... Ah! I don't have any chickens, guess I need to go to Atwoods lol.png I don't care about breeding, I intend to free range so everyone will be with everybody else, unless I seperate the brahmas.. haven't decided yet. I'm just wanting a color variety in my eggs. I know I'm bringing some of the roos to poops, but I don't know which ones yet and I need to email her to find out exactly what they were again cause I can't remember. Some are feather footed and very pretty. how does the genetics work? If I did take that roo from you if he mated to my orps or brahmas would I end up with EEs out of it?
Well, Duke is not only blind, but he's super needy, he wants to be inside most of the time, if he's in and needs out he whines, if he is out and wants in (all the time) he barks, can you hear him from your house Ksane?? I bet you can! Good news is he gets along with my other dogs, just need to break him of this barking habit.

Yea, I'm "male heavy", too haha! I'm not sure if the blue egg color trait is dominant or not? I can find out.

I did giant breed dog rescue for more years than I care to remember. They act like completely different dogs after you've had them a few months. It's possible the barking will resolve itself on its own just with time and letting him get used to things. Keep an eye on the Lost ads in the paper, too. Just in case. The owners might not have seen the other ad from the people you got him from.

LOL

You all got slush there?? Oh my word. We just got rain, none of that other stuff you guys were talking about last night. I'm a "100+ degrees and sunny" kind of person so all this rain and cold is depressing to me.

here is a candling chart i had saved

That's enough room for them to be locked in.I hate this mushy awful mess. The straw holds the ground real well compared to bare dirt but it's still a soggy icky mess.

I'm so anxious to pick up my new baby chicks from Jarvis's!

Good morning everyone! I got a job as a preschool teacher out in Newcastle. Now if my background check would just hurry back so I can start. I decided to do some farm animal lessons and a bird lesson. I thought it would be cool to maybe take a small incubator in to the class and let the kids experience eggs hatching. Then I can just bring the babies home. But if I do this I'd rather just buy 3 or 4 eggs not a whole dozen. Would anyone be willing to sell me a few eggs to set in a few weeks if I do this??
