Still recovering from the Saturday night auction...in more than one way...but got to chat with a lot of bycers and finally got to meet old cowboy..it was a pleasure chatting with him.

Wanted to show off the little hen we got from Muesky, she is an awesome little black Ameraucana that has fit right in and made herself at home...

She is in the front checking out her new roo

In the front again...my little hen in the back is saying, "thank goodness, another girl!" lol...now she has someone to talk to.

Remember, no auction this weekend (5th Saturday)...but New Castle will be the following weekend!

I've got birds and lots of 'em! Chickens, Peafowl, Pheasants, Quail....

My apologies if you don't get my sense of humor...

I know Monty.  I need to decide how many/who is coming with to POOPs.  What color/size of shirt I need.  Take pics of my raffle item.  Figure out what food items to bring.  Make my want list.  Get pics for MichaelD of some things I want................

Really need to work on tractors today, but can't stop sneezing.  Hope I can long enough to drive out and get DS in a bit. :P

I did finish and send out to be approved my meat bird project plan for our county and get caught back up here, so I'm not a complete wastrel today I guess.

We lost the little Splash pullet I got a couple weeks ago.  No idea why.  She started acting kind of funny....not exactly broody, but always sort of hunkered down in the corner.  I thought maybe she was going to start laying.  Then few days later, DS brings her and says she was laying funny and too light, but not like bathing, so I'm assuming she was on her side.  She did feel on the thin side, so we put her crest up and started feeding her separately and vitamins/extra treats.  She seemed to be improving one night, chortling away, enjoying the extra attention, then next am she was dead.  DS is thinking neurological damage, but I swear he thinks that about everything now after his fav hen got nailed in the head last year.  Not eggbound that I could tell.  Just weird, like from fine to depressed and wasting to fine to gone.

I don't bother to count them anymore.    Thanks to "Chicken Math" I already know the answer will be 10-12.

It's been a while since I've been online.  It has taken all my spare time to catch up on the thread.  Our basement is nearly dry thanks to enormous fans and gigantic dehumidifiers.  They have been running non stop since Monday afternoon.  I feel like I'm living in a giant bee hive.  We can't use the AC unit because it would pump moist air from the basement into the room on the ground floor, so it's warm in here.  I think the fans are being removed today, but I don't know about the dehumidifiers.

Later in the week we may have jack hammers blasting away at the basement floor so that a sump pump can be installed.  I can't stand to wear ear plugs, so I guess I need to pitch a tent outside until the construction is finished.

We went to the zoo recently.  It seemed like half the exhibits were closed for renovations.  There is a new sea lion in residence.  He slept the whole time we watched him.  Too bad we missed feeding time.  My favorite animal on this visit was the blue-crowned pigeon.  It's bigger than an adult turkey.
