We have been having bad hatches with the rain. Humidity is through the roof & scared I have drown some of my last batch of chicks. I took the water out of my cabinet incubator completely & only left water in the hatcher. With no water I am still @ 45% humidity. Seems the only issue is in the incubator that has the automatic refill bucket. The others that we are responsible for filling are doing much better. --- no body tell my husband I disconnected the bucket. Took him 6 months to hook it up where it filled the incubator & hatcher at the same time. Last season it was so dry we fought to keep the humidity up. This yr fighting to bring it down!

Okie ridge. Another guinea hatched-- looks like a pearl. Don't see any other pips, so maybe the rest are going to wait until hatch day.

So question - how long do I have until the little men start crowing? wanting to get them all dressed out before then!

IMO they are all different. The boys I hatched in Oct & butchered last wk were just beginning to crow. I have had them crow sooner. The plus side is you can burger at any age! If they are still chicks you may want to consider Capons. Poco pollo has been doing Capons & has been kind enough to share her knowledge.

aw, wish the far right wasn't a cockerel :( bummer

Ah! I need to learn to leave things alone. I decided since I didn't have any pips I would candle again and see if any air cells had been punctured. Candled one and there was movement! Yeah! They're not dead. Problem is I decided to move them back into formation (w/o changing their orientation so they didn't lose their positioning) I moved one and the stupid bird pipped the wrong end! Not only the wrong end, but it was facing down so I didn't know! Ah! So I probably shrink wrapped him. I had a spray bottle handy and sprayed the spot, he hasn't broken totally through, but pushed the shell off, the membrane looks still intact, so hopefully I didn't kill him. At any rate he's pipping at the small end so he's probably gonna die anyway from what I've read about it. Next time I think I will lock down based on candling not on dates. That's probably why he's pipping the wrong end cause he's been on one side for nearly 5 days. D'oh. Anyone here have them pip the wrong end and be okay?

Mine still isn't. He was trying to get frisky for a few days until his favorite hen kicked his butt. Now he just acts frustrated and confused. I thought he might crow before he started that nonsense. I looked it up online and most sites said all roosters are different and start when they're ready, and a few never really crow well. I'm waiting. I think I may keep him after all. I don't think the neighbors will hear him at night since the chicken sauna is well insulated. I don't think it will be too bad if they hear him during the day.

I can bring pop, buns and condiments. I Hesitate to bring anything perishable since I don't have much room in the car for coolers and I have a bit of a drive. I can also bring a few blue tarps and extension cords if they're needed. I really need a truck.
