Went by the Newcastle auction.  Arrived at 7 and they were still selling eggs and chicks.  There were a lot of chicks and hatching eggs there tonight.  Some of the eggs sold quite well.  3 purple peacock eggs sold for $20+ each.

We stayed for a couple of hours, waiting for the pickled quail eggs and pickled chicken eggs to come up for auction.  They were still selling incubators and brooders when we left and had not yet brought the pickled eggs up for auction.  I hope they do well since they were taken by our BYC folks.

Had the chance to briefly visit with Queen Peaches, Michael D., Al, bfrancis and qwartel, mjgixax and her spouse, Jcatblum, Muesky, Elwood Lightfoot, Chiclooker and OldMotherHen, waved at dgibson and almost bid on something by accident, waved more discreetly at NoCityBoy and OldCowboy,  and visited briefly with NanaKat.  I am sure I left someone out (like Modernman, whom I did not actually make eye contact with) and I apologize for that and blame it on my poor memory.

I got some Ameraucanas at the auction tonight, 4 of the group look to be several wks old , the other 3 (yellow) look like they're only a day or 2 old. My other chicks are all 2-3 wks and older and probably wouldn't mesh well with a new hatchling. The 4 bigger Ameraucana are so cool, they're from MJ's friend, Jack. MJ, be sure to tell him I love em'!

And I got 7 Light Brahmas, I was so excited to get them :-)))) Fat little round things, I love em'! And 6 Spitzhauben but I split them with the couple who were bidding against us because I felt bad for winning them, I'm a sap. So we each ended up with 3, they're real skinny but they're in there under the heat lamp chowing down on wet mash right now so I hope they'll be ok.

MomsBusyBee-welcome!
Oh, and I got to meet Bill-finally.  I've wanted to meet him for a long time. If I hadn't had to get baby chicks home I'd have love to talk to you longer, Bill.

The others who were there-how much did the LF Cochin adults go for? I wasn't going to buy any and I wanted to hurry up and get the babies home so I didn't stay to find out.

I'm so broken hearted. All I wanted was a couple of Silkies and I don't think I'm going to even get that now if I lose these two.

That's so sad :-( You had SO many eggs, too! There was a really pretty trio of Buff Silkies at Newcastle tonight, did you see them? Why did you leave right away?

We were sitting on the bleachers on your right, I saw you guys but didn't know who most of you were so didn't go over there. I knew who Nana was when she won the Cochin eggs lol

I thought I spied NoCityBoy when we were leaving, he was busy talking to someone so I didn't want to bother him. I thought of him when we were bidding on the Light Brahma because I know he's got some. These 7 I got are chunky monkeys, real healthy looking.

Oh, and BBAcres, you can still have a couple of my Lavender Ameraucanas if you want, Carl hatched 5 out for me from eggs I brought him, no charge. They're beautiful and I certainly don't need 5 with all these other chicks. They can't be sexed though but they're super healthy, they're 2 1/2 wks old.

I'm looking at Silver Laced and Gold Laced LF Cochins right now along with the Lemon Blues....Ya know.....I've got a couple acres here I can fence......I could make yards for different colored big Cochins......I'll think on it for a few wks. If I still want to in a few wks then I'll know I'm not going to change my mind.

They had SL Cochins at the Newcastle Auction

Hey Don,  how late did you stay.  Thank you for introducing me to Bo.   Looking forward to hatching the eggs.  And will visit with Bo in the fall for birds.

I must have missed a few folks you mentioned.....so glad to see you again.  Chicklooker got the other carton of Blue Cochin eggs.  Muesky purchased some of the Mottled Cochin eggs.

Mitzi how did I not see you tonight???? I was sitting @ the table w nanakat--- p&b asked about you & I told her you were not coming!!!! Sorry I didn't see you. Wasn't paying much attention!
DD got eggs from Cowboy & some from Michael plus chicks from Jack. I came home with 2 rose comb rhode island reds!!!! I almost missed them. The poor ladies were in a cage with a royal palm Tom that had been displaying & hiding. They have been worked over pretty good by a roo but I think a month in quarantine & they will feather back in nicely. Now I will be on the hunt for more rosecomb rhode island reds......
