Junebug - Congratulations on your wins! How exciting! I knew the Cajun Classic was soon but wasn't sure when it was. So glad your little guys did so well.

jcatblum - It sounds like your DD's roo has found himself a girlfriend. Your DD must be thrilled to have him meet her like that after school. I know I would be. How sweet!

Today I got a call from my sister who is hiking the Appalachian trail. She started on March 14th  just outside of Atlanta, at the beginning of the south end of the trail and has made it Gatlinburg, TN. Her goal is to make it all the way to Maine by the October 15 ~. She's hiking it alone but has buddied up with other hikers periodically. She had some interesting stories to tell about her hike so far, about folks she's met along the way, distance and elevation changes, animals she's encountered and lots of other things. It makes me want to go, too! It was good to hear from her because I worry about her hiking the whole trail alone. This is something she's always wanted to do and the opportunity to do it came along so she's off to accomplish her goal. Just thought I'd share that with you all because I'm excited about it for her.

Chicken news: my silkied Serama roo, Sidewinder has been trying to woo the LF mama hen who recently hatched out some chicks. She is so much bigger than him, but he doesn't seem to notice. He struts and dances for her and tries his hardest to gain her attention, but she won't even give him a glance. Poor little guy. He tries so hard! lol I tried to video it today but didn't get outside with the camera fast enough.

A greenhouse full of plants and a yard full of poultry.  What more could one ask for?

just proves a point a very knowlegeable almost elderly gentleman has said several times on here and other forums,

""just wait and those 75 dollar birds will come way down in price when the new wears off."

If I could train a rooster to do his business outside I would be fine with keeping one in the house. But honestly I question how well my dogs are house broken when I see them sniff & attempt to lift their legs!

I let her know that I would blog her adventure so am going to try to get that started in the next day or two. A friend of hers was supposed to do it but that hasn't happened yet. When I get it set up I'll let you know. Even though it's a long hard trail, she seems to be enjoying it.
