The weatherman lied, he said it wouldn't rain until tonight.  Normally wouldn't mind, but today I was going to work on my dubia's, I really need to clean the colony and I have an awsome idea that I think will make cleaning the colony easier in the future, but can't do any of that w/ it threatening rain, then they said all this week will be in the 70's so I'll need to wait until it warms next week.  barnie.gif

All questions are welcomed here. We are blessed with members that are willing to help answer things that come up.

Here at BYC there is a thing called a Chickenstock, they are local get togethers where we can all swap birds get to meet each other and have a good time. It's good family oriented fun.

Just turn the heat back on and do the modifications in the house. If you are worried about escapees just bring in a hen or two to stand guard. cool.png

Had a great time at POOPS yesterday. I realized that most people don't remember me on the board. I was here a while back but a year ago we had a lot of medical stuff going on with my oldest son, and I sorta just disappeared from online stuff.

My name is Traci, and I live in NE Oklahoma City. We have five acres just off 1-35. I raise Dominique chickens. I had a small flock in 2010 along with some Muscovy ducks and guineas but had to put all my birds down due to an outbreak of Mycoplasma Gallisepticum. We depopulated, bleached the crap out of the poultry house, and let it stand fallow for six months. Got more birds in January from Mike Stichler in Ohio. We have terrible predator problems out here though and I've lost two roosters this spring. I'm in the process of building a new coop, but it's going slower than I'd like. We were making great time, but then my best friend from college died of cancer, and my husband messed up his shoulder. I'm still plugging along though. Hope to finish it before the heat sets in permanently this summer.

I picked up a trio of buff bantam cochins and a silkie hen while I was at POOPS. They are going to be sunroom chickens! I have to come up with a different housing situation though. I was going to get ONE bantam hen and keep her in an extra large dog crate. My chicken math skills weren't so good obviously! gig.gifI'll figure something out though. It was really nice to meet everyone and I hope we can get together again. Poultry and Bees, it was nice sitting and talking bees with you. Edit: spelling.

Ooops! Tell her I'm sorry! It's the sweetest little pullet, too. She talks non-stop. I had been going to put her in with my other Black Birchen & the blue/silver boy but those 2 are fine together so this little one will stay with the Silkie girls. It's now a girl-only pen again.
