Yes that was a turnip I grew.  When I first looked in it looked untouched and I thought how odd they usually aren't that picky, but when I picked it up I could see all the inside activity.

oh, RetiredArmyWIfe, I believe the bird you got is a Silver Laced Polish. I'm glad my daughter didn't see them or we'd have more mop heads running around here :-)

It it looks exactly like all the pictures I find of spitzhauben. Not that I worry about breeds. My yard is such a mixture! I love them all no matter what breed or mix of breeds. love.gif

I am so disappointed that I was not able to make it to POOPS yesterday!  hit.gifhit.gif

Unfortunately our other business took A LOT longer than it was supposed too.   I live in Tecumseh but can I go to the gathering in Muskogee next month?  I really want to meet you guys and have people to talk chicken to!

All the chicks are growing like weeds and I have a few eggs pipped in the bator.  One of my swedish flower hens is going have a crest! Yeah! celebrate.gif I was hoping for that.

It sounds like everyone had a great time yesterday and had lots of pretty chickens.  NNBREEDER I may have to talk to you about some of those NNs. I really like all the colors I have seen so far.

Funny story yesterday evening.  I have a 5 month old Aussie/Border collie cross pup.  I have had him out daily helping with the chicken from 8 wks.  I  really hope to find someone to help me train him for herding. Well here I am walking some little ones back to their coop and I tell Merlin "the dog" to "Help find the chickens" . He promptly ran the other way.  I just shook my head only to look up and see that he has gone over to the Adult coop and is looking from the coop and run full of birds back and forth to me!! I just started laughing. I guess he went and *found* the chickens all right!!

Does anyone have a spare partridge banty cochin roo?  Kurt and I fed and watered this morning at 7:30 and his roo and 2 hens were fine.  Then we spent the day finishing up the hoop house, moving chicks, ect. I went to water for the afternoon round (we water 3 times a day I am picky about fresh water) we found his roo dead.  He looks like he just went to sleep.  Of course we don't know how old he was or anything since we got him at auction.  I am going to keep his girls in quarentine for the next two weeks just to make sure.  It won't be hard because his coop is away from the rest of the birds closer to the house so he can play with them more.  We have 2 other banty cochin roos but he really wants to breed the partidge bantam cochins.  So if anyone hears of one for sale please, please let us know.

On a happier note, he has been spoiling his little silkie babies.  They aren't following him around yet like his bantam cochin chicks do but I am sure within the week they will be.

Thank you again POOPS organizers!  My kids have done nothing but tell their dad all about the fun he missed yesterday.  It truely was a family fun day for us, everyone made sure even my girls were included in the fun and activities and than ment alot to me and them.  Not often people will talk to Shanda most just pretend she isn't there or talk like she isn't there.  Thank you to those that came by and said hello to her.  Wish I could remember more names of everyone but as my kids can tell you, I am HORRIBLE with names! LOL

Shellie, I missed you a lot! I looked for you the whole time I was there.

Cathie, I went over there to talk to you and there was a big group of people there lol! I hung around for a bit waiting but then saw the Modern Bantam hen next to where you guys were and bought her.

See the trouble you got me into just because I wanted to say hi? lol.png

Edit: Jim, that's some pretty good gender fixing you did on the Orps. I'm praying like crazy both my 2 are girls.
