Buster-- this is just me thinking out loud with no proof, just a hunch. What about using some catfish feed? It is way high in protien & amino acids. I wonder if you could do a small test batch, like 10 or so birds & give them 1/4 catfish feed & 3/4 of your mixed feed? I was looking at floating catfish feed the other day so I could toss it in the ducks water & they could splash & chase the feed in the water as they ate a snack. Just a thought. No research but it does have animal protien & amino acids so it might help.
Anyone feel free to chim in, this is based of no reasearch, just me standing in Atwoods near a bag of catfish feed thinking how my ducks would like it.
I think it would be worth a shot, Christina. Just got off the line with Fertrell and fishmeal is $60 a bag, Nutribalancer $70. I have an outlier batch we picked up in Duncan on a whim that are a couple of weeks behind the others. I can try it out on them. Thanks!

This page might help some, POOPS, NEOCS and Green country are yearly events in different parts of the state just have to follow the thread for the dates once the planning starts.

Any other Orpington owners, can you help me sex these 2? The lighting is different in both pics but I was trying to pick the best shots of their combs. They'll be 7 wks tomorrow, is it too early to sex them? Elwood, you should have some this age, can you tell yet?
I'm thinking cockerel and pullet but that would be just a guess, I've been trying to see if I can tell a difference in mine some just don't have much comb yet so thinking those are pullets but it could be too soon to tell

k this is a strange question. has any one ever hatched twin chickens befor? my daughter has and egg that she is sure is a double yoker. I have set it and am going to see what happens. Just thought i would ask those that have been doing this a while how it works out.
There are two threads on the hatching thread and it didn't turn out well. Most hatcheries will not set double yolkers because they don't have good survival rates.
