Weed and Feed?

I purchased some weed n feed this spring and never got around to using it. I wondered if it was safe for chickens and knew i could come here to get info. I found this thread which made me go to the website to see what it says about the safety of the product. I would have never wasted the money had i read the "cautions" on the bag! Here is a link to scott's weed n feed. Scroll down and read then cringe at the thought of ever using such a cautioned product. Yikes

I have never been a yard nut- have always just mowed whatever grew and removed fall leaves. Now that I have fenced most of my 2 acres for the health and enjoyment of my hens, I would like to improve the "pasture" quality. I have an over abundance of ground ivy, which the chickens won't touch. I would like to have clover, and I have none. Most of my yard is partial shade and I feel this is probably the reason, but wondered if it could be a Ph problem that might be organically correctable? I do have a good growth of grass, it just has the ground ivy woven throughout and I would love to replace that w/ clover. Anyone know if this is doable? Also, if I have poison ivy growing up a limited section of wire fence- can I blast that w/ Round-up? I am hoping the chemical smell will send the hens off to better eating elswhere?
