I should probably just go to bed.

That's what I tell myself too, but it usually ends up like this..

Turn off tv

Check byc

Put on pajamas

Check byc

Brush teeth

Check byc

SOMETHING NEW!

Respond

Check byc

Turn tv back on

Continue to check byc every 12 seconds

How about... a book. I know, radical idea, but I recently rediscovered them myself. Especially on a kindle, it's almost like reading BYC but it's longer. There's plenty of books out there about chickens too. Have you read Farm City by Novella Carpenter? Or ... just do a search on Amazon for chickens and you'll get a TON of them.

I am up too. Can't believe what I have gotten myself into.

I have finally admitted that I am addicted to hatching...

I just agreed to incubate 4 dozen standard Cochin eggs for a guy in trade of a few chicks...then I remembered that I ordered 12+ pheasant eggs... now I am trying to get my hands on another bator. I have a friend who has 4 so hopefully she isn't using all 4 of them right now. lol.

My husband is snoring next to me...I have 11 ducklings chirping in the living room...along with the glow from their light looming into our bedroom...6 more eggs in the incubator but only 4 look like they have a chance to hatch. We will see.

I really should get some sleep. My kids get up at the crack of dawn it seems...especially when I stay up.

I do the same thing at this time of night.

Refresh BYC

answer vaguely interesting posts (doesn't really have to be THAT interesting at this hour either)

pat the kitty on my lap

check Facebook

kick the kitty off my lap

get a beverage

check for new posts (write something absurd, preferably to Boyd who's usually equally weird at this hour)

apologize to my kitty (who has now returned and wants me to come to bed)

look at the clock and sigh

refresh BYC (telling myself it's the last time and then I'm REALLY going to bed this time)

realize I can't get up now because the kitty is comfortable again

etc

etc

Too lazy at this hour to do much else. It's my wind down time, but it does get a bit redundant. Oh well. Always been a night owl, I can't help it.

And you guys get extra point for being a few hours ahead of me.

I wish I had hatchers insomnia. Unfortunately I spent a prett penny on 30 hatching eggs a couple of months ago and it only ended in heartache and no chicks

so now I just want to wait until I have a broody. I eat that can take up to three years. Holy canoli!
