We have problems with ravens killing our "teen" chicks, geese, & turkeys. I've already broken up fights between the rooster and a raven, lucky for the rooster cause he keeps loosing. The ravens here are huge and very smart so what I need is a breed of rooster that is big enough to hold it's own and is fast enough to cover the 1/2 acre range area.

Could you show a video of this? Seems extreme as unless your chickens are bantams your rooster should have a marked weight advantage. I have seen American crows do to mourning doves as you describe. Are the ravens by any change teaming up?

Ravens are huge and very smart. The only 100% cure is to keep your babies under cover.

The adult geese aren't enough to scare them off?

What state do you live in? You should be able to get a permit to do away with the Raven if it is a re-occuring problem.

Sorry, no video. The most recent fight has been The Rooster and The Goose vs The Raven (kinda sounds like WWF). It seems it should have been one sided but I had to show up before the raven broke off and flew away. The rooster is about a year old leghorn and the hens are RIR. I did find out the raven chicks have recently hatched and this accounts for the rash of attacks. As for size, the ravens in Interior Alaska out size a big seagull or crow by about 1/3 or so.

Seems you need a Livestock guardian dog- FAST!! Sorry, that is all I could think of since you can't shoot or drop off the babies on someone's doorstep.

Oh man, have you ever seen a raven? They're wayyyy huger than crows. I saw one a few months ago for the first time and I couldn't even believe it's size. It was bigger than a hawk!

I am familiar with the multiple (sub)species of ravens in North America. Both approximate a red-tailed hawk in size. Ravens and crows both ill equiped for taking on a adult large ground fowl on the ground. I am therefore inclined to doubt original observation as reported if actual contact between combatants involved.
