I am having a heck of a time trying to find any laws!

I live in the middle of nowhere with only 1 neighbor nearby who just minds their own business. ( Thank god!) But I have been searching on my states website and everything and I cannot for the life of my find any farm laws or zoning information. I just want to know if there are any restrictions on numbers where I am. Any good websites to check out? I live in Eustis, Maine.

I don't think you can write "hell" in the title of your post...

And as far as I understand, if you live in land thats really rural its most likely ag zoned so you don't need to worry about chicken laws.
 
As far as I know it would be town zoning laws. State has min. requirements but unless it is shoreland or wetland probably they would not apply. If you are worried about it, ask your town office. They should have a copy for you to read.

BTW I am in Central Maine.
 
Oh, and I doubt if Eustis really cares how may chickens you have. I could be wrong but I would be surprised if they did.

if you do a search of "eustis zoning office" you should get a phone number. call that number and whoever answers should be able to tell you if you can have chickens/livestock. thats what i did. saved me the hassel of reading through laws and ordinances myself

Go ask the library for the Zoning Ordinances? Would be quickest, and not alert The Authorities to your interest, tho they've no business asking why you want to see them.

And, I highly recommend reading the ordinances yourself, because not everyone who works in the zoning office knows about some of the more obscure ordinances, and then you're still "under the radar", should the ordinances be vaguely negative. They're usually pretty tedious and cross-referential... The chicken-based rules for me are in the form of a definition and the omission of a possible use (hence, forbidden use) in my zone; they don't say "you can have 4 chickens, huzzah!"
