Chick With Curled Toes

Anyone know how to correct the REAR toe? I've looked all over this forum and the web, didn't think this was a unique issue. Lots of info about the front 3.

I've got a 5-day old Cream Legbar with front toes ok, but rear toes on both feet just kinda curled under the leg, rather than pointing nearly directly backward (opposite of front toe). If I try and stretch it out it doesn't want to point to the rear, and certainly not flat (I dont want to break em). She runs around ok but terrible balance, tends to fall backwards to no surprise.

She has sisters that had similar problems, lacking nutrients outta the gate. I'm loading her up on vitamins/electrolytes/probiotics. Any suggestions on splints/bracing the rear toe? Even if I make a typical "shoe", since I can't flatten the toe all the way back (at least not on day 1 of treatment), it will point down and then she really can't walk!

This is one of our hens- I'm holding her so her feet are curled up oddly, but it's definitely noticeable when she walks. But she's not a baby anymore! Think they were born sometime February 2016. She has no issues walking,running,flying.. And when I put my fingers under her feet she would wrap them around tightly, so they have strength. I am just sad I didn't notice it as a baby. There are no bad effects from leaving her like this for the rest of her life is there? Should I try vitamins?

Our tiny Bantam chick wa born with splayed legs and curled toes on both feet. One foot was particularly curled and we thought nothing would work. I strapped the legs with cohesive support bandage and that corrected the legs overnight! We tried alsosorts with the toes but grip was an issue, despite rubber mat, tape alone enabled too much movement in toes and card base was too slippy. We finally found the trick!... Lay the toes correctly onto sand paper with the rough side down (we used P120 grade) and tape over the top with micro-pore tape to create a toe sandwich.

We have two-day old chicks and one has curled-in outer toes on BOTH feet. I tried a cardboard piece, but the other chicks pecked at them. No place to isolate it from the others.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you

Do you have photos of your chick and your brooder set-up?

Now is the time to try to fix the curled toes. If he is being picked on you need to find a way to separate him. A large cardboard box or tote will do. If you have some chicken wire, make a barrier inside the brooder you already have so he can see the others. Provide him with his own heat, food and water.

Curled toes can be caused by vitamin deficiency in parent stock, hatching/incubation problems or genetics. I would crush 1/4tablet of human B-Complex vitamins(no iron) and add that to his feed daily.

Here's one method with illustrations on how to fix curled toes:

Very clever!
