Leghorns are great egg laying chickens. They are friendly to other Leghorns and can easily fly. The only problems is that they are bad in the pecking order and they can make a mess of the yard....

seem like a good breed, if i had the room i would probably raise a batch of them they seem like they would be a good 4h starter show bird...considering i dont see many of this breed in my class...

What I look for is fighting, loss of feathers, weight loss, excessive aggression. But it sounds like your birds have worked it all out.

Wife, mom to 3 children, and caretaker to 45 hens, 2 rabbits, 1 cat, 2 goldfish, 3 frogs (and looking for a puppy)

I find the agression can ramp up after the newness wears off so keep an eye on them for at least a week.

5 acres, 2 dogs, 1 cat, 6 ducks, 1 husband, and an ever expanding number of chickens.

I just integrated my first bunch last Friday, so I've been on my toes all week, too. Good luck with yours! I've just been keeping an eye on signs of blood, feather-loss, and signs of excessive stress. Hope they can learn to play nice!

Happy in our own little piece of heaven... I have a man who loves me and a happy home; a girl couldn't ask for anything more! We live on the Funny Farm, where nothing is quite right, but it's alright by us!

So far...we have 6 RIR, 1 non-bearded silkie. 2 RIR/JG mixes and 7 JGs. Oh yeah, also 5 humans, 4 dogs, a couple barn cats & a slew of fish. *New babies! - 4 BLRW, 2 Exchequer Leghorns,...

Thanks for the advice !!! So far so good. The little one that was getting pecked at the most finally decided he/she wasn't going to put up with that anymore & started jumping back into the faces of the would be bullies. They pretty much have been steering clear of him/her now. The really funny thing though is that last night is the first time that I've seen ALL of the big girls on the roost. Them on the roost & the 3 turkins on the floor.

One thing I did do to, hopefully, dissuade aggression was that I put my roo from this batch in with the girls that I added. The ladies used to have a roo, so they are familiar with the idea, but I was hopeful that a new one who knew the new littles might help protect them a bit. I don't know, we'll see.
