Shamos and Saipans

Yes, Good bloodlines will run you quite high as Saipans are actually quite rare. You can hardly find the O'Sadlers and Saylors anymore so you're going to pay if you want them. Just check to be sure they are what they say. Most of us that have them know who deals in them..we're all in a loop so to speak. Yeah. Thats high but You have to understand the saying. "You get what you pay for" :}..  if your think their worth that much. go for it

You have to remember with these oriental fowl that with the "bird flu" scare, all imports on fowl are pretty much prohibited unless you have the time and deep, deep pockets to go through the quarentine process, and even that doesn't mean you'll get birds.  So what blood is here in the states is about all you have to choose from.  So with decreased supply comes higher prices for what there is.  Good brood fowl is gonna cost ya more than some run of the mill hatchery fowl be it show bantams or oriental gamefowl.  If you know the breeder, know his/her stock and it is what you are looking for, and the price seems fair, then it is up to the purchaser if they close the deal.  Feel uneasy about the price, keep shopping, there are places to go to find what you are looking for...I would highly recommend Chinachicks1's link for starters....Good luck with your search friend...

Monty, Mr Pasquale has some nice birds. I have seen oriental fowl, such as asil, shamo, thai and brazilian go for up to $500 a bird and higher. Birds from top quality breeders are high. Buckguy, i have a link for u, send me a PM.

 

 

           I thought the whole point of BYC was to get folks together to discuss ideas and share experiences and information. That, to me in the real world, means sharing links to information that may not be sitting right there in front of our faces. Competition???? Is there some sort of weird contest that one site wins because they have the most information available? Does that information have to be accurate? There are lots of links to privately owned web pages with the most outlandish claims you'd ever want to see. Does that count? Yes, editing of this sort is extremely disappointing to see in a site that claims to be a friendly place to discuss a mutual interest. And this isn't the first time we've been subjected to this sort of mindset. To be fair there are a lot of moderators who may not all agree with this line of thinking.

 

 

The rules have been evident for some time; for a while BYC would allow an occasional linking to other websites for information regarding a post but promoting a website was a large no-no even if the members that joined there remained BYC members. I've watched it for about three or four years now, some websites are blocked (where any link posted to those websites is just a link the directs to BYC) because they were promoting their website so to speak.

BYC is about poultry, people come together here, but it is also obviously a business.

I have to say I was surprised to see this myself, especially in such a rare breed where this information would be very valuable to share.  I think it is a shame.  Certainly BYC is successful enough without this sort of  attitude.
