This looks exactly like my white Ameraucana.  Just got 10 chickens (4 other breeds beside the Ameraucana) last Sunday. They are supposedly 15 weeks old.  I'm a newbe.  Have a question about this white chicken.  I've only observed her a few days now and she doesn't act much like the others.  She sleeps a lot, hasn't caught onto the chicken nipple drinking system, follows the walls of the coop, has trouble eating out of the feeder, pecks at the wood pellets on the floor, eyes are closed a lot.  Is she blind?  Is she just having problems adjusting?

Hi. Welcome to BYC!  A purebred white Ameraucana will have blue/slate legs, a pea comb, and muff/beard. Many hatcheries sell crosses as Ameraucanas, but they do not meet the breed standard, and are referred to as Easter Eggers (EE). The bird pictured is not an Ameraucana, nor does it look like an EE.

As for your bird's behavior, that does not seem normal and is cause for concern. It could be a vision problem, but I would remove her from the others in case she has something contagious. You should post the symptoms under "Emergencies..." in the "Raising Backyard Chickens" forum for a better chance at help.

Make sure she is getting some water. They do drink a lot!  Wish I could be more help with your chicken.

Good luck!  frow.gif

Thx for the help.  I'll put her in a dog kennel.  I did stop by the vet - he didn't help much other than gave me some antibiotic injections to give her.  I'm not sure about doing this but since she is not laying yet, what harm could it do.  I'm going to observe her more this weekend and if she doesn't change, I'll give her the shot.
