What is going on??? This has been happening for two days. I just found it floating upside down in the little swimming pool... thought "this is it" and went to pick it up and its walking around fine. It seems to seizure every once in awhile (I have seen it twice) and then goes so stiff that it looks dead. After afew seconds, it seems a little dizzy and then walks around like nothing has happened. It's freaking me out. WHAT IS WRONG???

It doesn't appear to be eating, but I see it walk around like normal, drink, and swim with it's mate. It also is not as noisy as normal but would appear healthy to someone observing it. Please help!

If it is a new development, she could have eaten something bad. Just guessing here, but you might try some Epsom salt in her water to help her clear out her gut incase she got in to something.

my goslings had that when they got brooder pneumonia at 3 weeks... they had inhailed a bunch of mold spores through their constant sifting of their bedding (I was new the poultry and didn't watch the cardboard near the waterer for mold...had no idea what would happen..never used cardboard again). They had seizures and would flop backward stiff and screaming and then flop around upside down... it was awful, they didn't eat eaither for about a day. I had to isolate them and I kept them in a warmer than usual (I had them at 85 degreese before) box with lots of water.

I hear a few drops of iodine in the water sometimes gives them the necessary agent to assist in combating the disease. This is internal and could be either disease or something harmful that has been ingested... though I think you would have seen her trying to vomit the ingested food or object up. Isolate her and watch her, inspect the coop or yard for potential hazards like mold or toxic plants, or even visiting animals... I think she will get over it if you keep an eye on her and keep her away from water she can drown in.

I'll keep my fingers crossed.

My Pekin duck started having seizures today. We have 4 pekins that have been raised together for the past 11 weeks. Two weeks later we got 2 rouens and a mallard like duck (but it is definitely not a mallard). We are building a duck house near our pond and have started introducing them to each other. Worried tht my pekin might have picked up something from the other 3. Is this possible? One of my Pekins was swimming in a pool the other ducks had been in. Now I am worried she picked up something. Any thoughts? And, suggestions for what I can do? When I bought the second set of ducks, one of them had neurological issues and ended up dying last week. But, she was never around the Pekins. Please help

My pekins are 11 weeks old, hoping she just ate something bad and will survive.

Could it be dietary or metabolic? Is it possible that a thiamine deficiency or inability to absorb enough thiamine (due to worms or other intestinal parasite) or one of the other B vitamins might cause this kind of neurological effect? I'd consult an avian vet!
