Pictures of your Quilts please. UPDATE I FOUND THE PATTERN - Page 7

I think the part I really don't care for the most is cutting. By the time I've got things cut out, I'm bored and ready to move on to something new.

I hear you CoyoteMagic.  If I could hire someone to cut the pieces I would be happy and I would get much more quilts done!

I don't mind the cutting, but it is hard to do with a toddler running around.  I love hand quilting.  I find it very soothing.   I hate binding the quilt.  When I can I take my finished quilts to another Aunt, she has an industrial sewing machine that she bought at auction when the factory she worked for closed (ironically the factory moved to my husband's home county and now one of his aunts works there).   You feed the binding through one side and the quilt edge through another and it comes out sewn on perfectly!

All of these beautiful quilts makes me want to pull out my machine and whip up some blocks!  I need something simple.  Or I could just finish one of the MANY unfinished quilts I have lying around smile

Thanks ginbart! These are the only log cabins I've done but yeah I like doing them and seeing all the designs that can be made with them.
I have some other quilts I have made for my kids as they were growing up,  I have to see if I can find the old pics of when they still looked presentable LOL!

I don't care for cutting out fabrics that much either. I like those jelly roll strips that are already cut up lol. The bad thing is they are kinda expensive. I found some nice batik jelly rolls at our local walmart and bought one to try.  I am cutting out pieces for a tropical quilt now with sea turtles and lots of tropical flowers but already getting ideas for another quilt I wanna try and make that has Japanese patterns. It is like an illness lol !!!

Currently I am finishing up a lap quilt to donate as a prize to one of my plant societies. It has some night bloomers on it and making a quilted cover for my stand mixer lol that has chickens on it smile

I am really enjoying seeing everyones beautiful quilt pictures. Y'all are really talented!!  I wish I had a quilting machine for now I just do everything on an old cheapie machine and quilt the top by hand which is probably why I don't do much quilting on the top lol.

My dd is a teen and just got into quilting this last winter and boy she is already much better than I am! She is an artist and normally does black and white sketching but really does have an eye for color as well. She has drawn alot of my patterns for me. She made some crazy pinwheel black and white quilts with wierd checkers and wavy lined type of materials. They really mess with your eyes but pretty cool tongue  She made a few christmas quilts too and did a good job on them.
I will try and get some photos of her black and white pinwheel ones.

How is the wal-mart fabric?  I have to drive to another state to find a fabric store and I considered buying some of the fat quarters at walmart instead.  I just don't know how well they will hold up to being used and washed.

I was looking at the frugal quilt block on one of the swap sign-ups.  If I could find some cream material I would do it.

Love all the quilts!  There is a lot of talent here!  I love them all!  You ladies all really have a lot to be proud of.

I can't right now, but maybe later I'll post a few that I've made.

I'm with jc12551 - I am not a fan of the cutting at all and don't enjoy piecing that much, but I LOVE to hand quilt.  It is very relaxing and I really enjoy it.  I'm finding I have less time now than ever to quilt with a 4.5 month old around, but I am almost done on my quilt for Relay for Life made with quilt blocks from Coyote's block swap.  smile

I haven't used the batik looking walmart fabric on my project yet. Just cutting stuff out right now. I have bought some other materials from them including some that I made country kitchen curtains from in 2001. Those curtains still look really good lol.  The colors on the wm jelly roll batik are more color fast than some of the others I have washed. I always wash everything and put it through the dryer and iron it before I use it and I didn't notice any shrinkage or color loss from the walmart material (jelly roll or batiks off the bolt). Even some of my prettiest and most expensive batik materials lose a little color when I first wash them.  I also found some of the same pre-packaged fat quarters batiks at our WM as the ones at JoAnns same brand name on the material but cheaper unless they happen to be on sale at JoAnns. Some of the WM's have stopped carrying material. Around here, some do and some don't. It seems like the newer stores are the ones that aren't carrying it anymore.

Flgardengirl, do you have any pics of your daughters quilts? We would love to see them.

jcl2551,  I was told Wal Mart has some good fabric, if you look at the end of the fabric you should see small blocks in colors  and there will be numbers.  If the numbers are in the middle of the blocks and the color is good, its good fabric.  If you would like to see a pic of what I'm talking about let me know.  I'm sorry maybe you already know this.   hide
