Spike combs?

Sorry, bumping an old thread, but I feel I can offer some information. I breed for eye colours and wild combs. I can definitely say that this type of comb comes from crosses.

I'm not 100% sure and I've never seen a real life example but I think you need to breed 2 very very VERY good spike rosecombed chickens together, and keep breeding over many generations until the spike becomes longer and longer and the bumpy part of the comb smaller. Then, when you have a hen and cock from that, keep breeding until the comb shortens. Genetics are sometimes random, so a weird mutation may show up. Like in the way of the Lamona where it took 16 years to create and perfect the breed, it may take many years, and you may have to backtrack if you get unwanted traits. I wouldn't recommend trying it, but the crazy ones are the ones who change the world. And that's coming from a Steve Jobs quote.
