Mole Negro my black ameraucana is somewhere around 30ish weeks....  I got her 24 weeks ago and she was about 6-8 weeks old. I found it when I was getting help fixing a door on my coop. So it was a total surprise!!  It was on the floor in the middle of the coop but the next day when I went out to feed them she came out grabbed a bite and went back in... So I waited and she went into a nesting box scratched around and then moved to one further back in the coop.... The other chickens went in to see what was up so I thought no way she won't lay an egg with them in there... and then I hear a magic DROP!!!  Smart girl.  Since Sat I have gotten 4 EGGS!  I have them sitting on my counter .... I just sit and stare ... they are so PRETTY!

Here she is posing for the camera.

And here is a pix of her lovely minty green egg... although it looks white in the picture ....

It was promptly dropped by my 2 year old godson and well this is what it looked like....

Beautiful dark yellow and YES there is a bullseye! My 5 month old Silkie Tiny has been a busy boy......

Now if only Caesar will get with the program!!!  She is 24 weeks old.....  and my bantam cochin & cochin frizzle but I hear they can take AGES to lay!!!

Congrats!  Such lovely girls.

And that has got to be the best picture ever of a bullseye.

Having an Icelandic in the coop is like having a 2 year old in the house - they are into everything and don't follow the rules.

I have zero chicken willpower.

I think Ethel, my Austrolorp laid two eggs.  Unfortunately, I couldn't eat either of them.  I found her in her nest yesterday, but I think I startled her so she let them go while up on her perch.  One had a shell and broke when it landed below her.  The other didn't have a proper shell and managed to land on top of their feeder.  That one was in one piece.  After I took a picture, I ripped it open and gave it to the dog.  So at least someone enjoyed it.  It did have a yoke.  smile.png  But it is a start.  Here's the picture.

You can eat soft shelled eggs--they are perfectly fine.

Wanda, my Barred Rock, who was hatched on September 26, laid her first egg today.  I knew she was ready!

That picture was taken 12 days ago.

Here's her first egg, which I think is a pretty good size for a first!

And another pullet from the same hatch started squatting this week.  Way to go girls!

One of my two 24 week old black stars squatted today!!!!!!! But she doesn't look ready...?

I have five hens and two pullets- one seven year old red star, Luna, one white leghorn, Sage, one SLW, Pepper, one adorable fluffy EE, Bedazzle, and one black star, Buckbeak. My two pullets are Nutella, my wheaten marans, thirty five weeks, (who is yet to lay an egg!), and her best friend, Sammy, seventeen weeks.

Pics!  My black star didn't look ready, but started squatting and then a couple of weeks later she started laying.
