I have hatched out so chicks from my Bantam WFBS rooster and my black silkie hen. I was wanting to know if anyone has done this and if so could you post some pics. I know that they have Black skin, feather legs and normal feathers , but will they get the white faces?
And if I breed them back to silkies can I end up with white faced Silkies?
Thanks,
Jared

I know that this is kinda late, but I have read in several places that many attempts have been made to cross the WFBS with other breeds & that white faces do not manifest in the resulting offspring. I do not know this first-hand, but it's what I've read. Something about the gene being specific to that breed & it doesn't cross over (I'm not a genetics expert, though). I am raising WFBS now & the boys have been all over my silkies & ameraucanas, so we'll see what hatches next spring (cuz I'm not letting anybody else hatch ANYTHING for the rest of this year... we went from 5 hens & a roo to about 30 chickens in under 4 months just by letting them breed & hatch in the yard, and we ended up with mostly roosters... ain't gonna do that again).

I recently purchased a beautiful pair of WFBS. A cockerel and pullet who had just started laying. As soon as she was in her new pen at our place, she laid an egg. Not knowing that her previous owner had penned them with two other cockerels (one was a silkie) I put it in the incubator, I had a total of 4 over the first week, so I put them in as they came out of the hen. Two hatched yesterday and the other two are due to hatch Friday and Sunday. I knew as soon as I saw the first two that they were not pure WFBS. Dead give-away is that darned fifth toe...LOL. They are cute as buttons, one is black and one is blue. Hope that they show traits from both breeds. Here they are.
