Can we feed our chickens Broccoli.....

I don't grow broccoli, but I do buy it fresh occasionally and neither my husband nor I care for the stalks. I shred them on the grater and the girls seem to love them. They aren't getting a lot, it's just the two of us here.

I grew  lot of broccoli this past winter & when complete, I hung the entire plant in the run for the girls. They really loved it.

Thats great, I hang lettuce for them so as long as they only eat the leaves that's a great idea. It's better than putting the whole thing in the compost bin. I have 6 chickens, all egg layers.

Hi there,

I let my chickens into our veggie patch all the time and they love eating the broccoli leafs. So defiantly feed them broccoli if you have any.

Hope this helped.

Thankyou. My broccoli had bolted so I wondered if the could get the leaves, the stems can go in my compost bin. My chickens are spoilt, this morning they got a tray filler with carrots, cucumber, banana, grapes, spinach. Thanks again, new to have g chickens but have g fun with them too. I also got hubby to make me frames and once they were down I put down grass seed. Iyd not just topping out of the mesh so they like that too.
