I've had these guys since they were four months old , they are 8 months old now. The hens are laying Juanita and Margarite , The rooster's name is Fernando.. Had a chick hatch yesterday

I wasn't sure I'd like them but have found them to be attractive and friendly so far. Hardy robust little birds.

With several comments about finding it hard to obtain good quality Brabanters, has anyone purchased from Sandhill? Where have you found good quality stock? If our town changes it's regs, this is...

I like everything about it except how it looks right now. I know it lays decently. It is a great part of my great waterfowl flock.

First, watching a runner duck run is awesome. They can find their own food. They aren't like pekins in water. Mine haven't started laying but I heard their decent.

Its not as fat and slow as a pekin, but its not frail either. I want a mallard but I don't want a flying bird. The rouen is great for that.

Wimberleytexaschick- what are your plans for the lavender laced pullet? Will she be bred back to silver laced or will you work on lavender laced gold?
Hope to create both.Lavender Laced Brahmas, Lavender Columbian Brahmas, Gold and Blue Partridge Brahmas

I am half afraid to ask.... but... do any of my chickens have vulture hocks? I am only planning on hatching for myself and maybe a few friends but I would still like to know.
The are gentle giants... and my daughters favorite to hold!
My Silver Laced Brahma just started laying eggs at almost 30 weeks.

I just found this topic. Beautiful birds up there!
I have Buff-Laced Brahmas from Dan Powell. Here are some pics of my flock.

I'm curious about those who have bred Blue Brahmas. What would I need to do to take these birds in that direction?
I'm a newbie to breeding, so talk baby talk to me, please! I have the incubation and hatching part down but I don't understand
all the genetic stuff very well.
Also, could someone please post a picture of a vulture hock? I have no idea what to look for. Thanks.Raising rare, heritage and unusual breeds of poultry in the shadow of the Smokey Mountains in Chuckey, Tennessee.

Interesting cockerel (11.5 weeks)

A very interesting cockerel indeed!! White laced black!? Yellow legs? What is his parentage?
DanWell you haven't seen any posts from me in a while as i lost my entire stock when a raccoon broke onto my pen and killed pretty much everything. I am just now starting to hatch and rebuild, hopefully in a year or so ill be able to start a project again. Hope to hear from some of you again.
