Who do I keep?! Project chickens- pics! - Page 3

post #21 of 25

Here are the ones that I would keep. I, too, have my own set of project chickens (Not Aloha Chickens, my own concoctions, lol), so this post really caught my eye.

                      ~~~~~~~~~~Roosters~~~~~~~~~~                                                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~Hens~~~~~~~~~~~~
                                          Easter ~ Stripes                                                                 Calli ~ Digit ~ Goldy ~ Flecks ~ Blackbeak ~ Snowflake ~ Puffy
           I would keep 2 Roosters to add more variety to the chicks                          Digit and Cali both have outstanding mottling while Flecks and Goldy
       and so that you will have a back-up if something happens to one.            possesses good dark patterns. Blackbeak and Snowflake have different kinds
    These both have good mottling (Stripes also has good dark plumage),           of mottling and speckling.  Last but not least, Puffy carries the bearding
   and Easter will pass on his bearding for greater variety in the offspring.         gene and has a fairly good coat of speckling. She also has beautiful golden
(I really like Peach, but his coloring might hide the speckles in his offspring.)                 straw colored feathers like Easter to add even more variety.
Hope I helped and good luck! smile
At long last I have had the time, internet connection, and pictures all together at the same time to post my update!!!
Here's everyone from the beginning of August (one month after the previous pictures).
This time I improved my setup so they couldn't run off till I was satisfied with the pic. Next improvement: light on both sides of the box for better colors in pics.
So here goes in order from smallest to largest:
Hens
I need to figure out the keepers soon. I am sharing several of the keepers with another Rogue Valley resident who wants to help out. I plan, between the 2 of us to keep 3 roosters and most of the hens.
I don't know anything about breeding chickens, but Stripes the Roo is lovely and I hope you can keep him.
