He's grown a teensy bit since I've taken these pictures. It's his birthday today too, so he's officially a rooster instead of a cockerel! :3

I think you'd classify this guy AOV - Non-Bearded blue partridge.

I would not call him a show-able rooster :( - main problem I see with this guy is his comb and waddle color are too red. His crest is smaller than most show males as well and his tail has too many hard feathers.

I think he is a gorgeous fellow though, love the blue partridge.

X2  I will say he has a nice short back and good wings--both of which are probably more difficult to find than one with a better crest or comb/wattle colour.  He probably would not fare well in a sanctioned show if there is any competition, but he might do quite well in a breeding pen if you can pair him with a very dark skinned, large crested girl.

Yes, he is very short backed and nice winged.

The breeding idea sounds pretty good. I'll keep it in mind. :3

I think I heard my silkie roo crowing for the first time today! Do you know when the silkie males are mature enough to fertilize the girls?

Yay, I'm so excited. ^D^ I think I might be able to start a Partridge Silkie breeding project in a few months, with Jujube (the rooster I posted) and a dark-skinned large-crested Partridge hen, who I'm still in need of...

That, and I'll be joining the Pacific Northwest Poultry Association soon.

I took some pics of my partridge today...before the storms come in. My black breasted partridge roo has finally filled out some, can hardly wait to hatch some eggs sired by him.

WOW that boy is AWESOME! Reminds me a lot of Sandy T of Bat Cave's main man Spartacus.

He will make some gorgeous youngins I bet. I have a hen that came through Sandy from you. - shes sitting on eggs right now. - sweet hen. :)

If I wasn't loaded down with eggs in my incubator (almost everything partridge silkies) I'd be all over trying to get some eggs from you. lol

Great looking boy, fl.gif here's hoping for some awesome boys just like future dad there.
