2 young hens "moreheads" Silver Partridge (gray with a Columbia factor) +- 4 months old "eb/eb S/- Co/co+ Pg/pg+ cha/cha"

Young hen +- 3 months old Blue Silver Partridge "eb/eb S/- Bl/bl+ Co/co+ Pg/pg+"

Young hen +- 2 1/2 months old Blue Silver Columbian morehead (comes close to Splash Silver Partridge in phenotype).

On the left a +- 2 months old hen (dark) Blue Silver Partridge also with morehead.

(All are project birds, so they are not finished nor in type nor in coloration)

Yes indeed, African people "the Mores" who invated south Europe were cald "moreheads" or dark (black) heads, because you could see only there black faces.

This "morehead" in Silkies is cause by the recessive gene cha/cha (= charcoal) that intensify the black-pigment in the crest- and beard-feathers.

Cali, I know a breeder who gets some dark blue partridge from her BBS pen. Here's a photo of one of her pullets.

Cali, I know a breeder who gets some dark blue partridge from her BBS pen. Here's a photo of one of her pullets.

OMG, that blue partridge is beautiful!!  I have to say, I am still confused on blue/grey color differences...idunno.gif
