Can you keep one hen and one rooster

I put Lola in the back shed for the night.

I'll get brave in the morning.
Maybe by then, I might be able to buy a few more hens. (if the lady doesn't pick them up.)

Thanks again for all of the help everyone.

I'm such a chicken-lol

Don't be scared! You can try again in the morning and actually let them hang for a few minutes with your supervision. Baby steps first.

I never leave 2 strange birds together for too long their first time.

I wouldn't be so concerned. Worst case senario? A squabble happens. No biggie. This should be fine though. It's introducing a newcomer to an entire flock that can be hard.

As far as getting more hens is concerned, try your best but if you're unable to, there's a time and place for anything, IMO. Honestly, both of them may do very well on their own for a while.

I found I have better and easier putting new chickens in with the flock. After they have gone to roost for the night. I take the new ones off the roost and put them on a roost in the main coop. In the morning they wake up together and there is a minimum of squabling.

I have one rooster and one hen two ducks all free range. The hen has gone broody and my rooster seems depressed. We have found him sitting at the back door to our home. He has always been pretty friendly. We also took a few eggs before she went broody and hatched then in our home. We feel like he started to hang around the back door when the chicks hatched a few days ago. Could he be hearing the chicks peeping? Does he miss roaming around with Henny his mate?
