@  Thanks Sweeties I am.  Spent the morning with my chickens  love.gif  OMG  I have chicks hatching....  so far 2 MF D'Uccles and 3 Blue Polish.  Gonna let them stay in there awhile to dry.  I REALLY  want them to make it and D'Uccles seem to be as sensitive as silkies when first born.  Have another 10-20 in the next few day to hatch....  I also got bored and decided to go through closets and organize after watching old reruns of "Clean House".  I just love that Niecy.  Found some things I wanted to share with you guys on the swap.  I have not been shopping in a few weeks at the cool places like Hobby Lobby, Peir One, Kirklands......but I will maybe this weekend.  Specially if it rains and I cannot do yard work. LOL

My heart is full of memories, Life goes on and all we can do is make the best of it, treat each other good, perform random acts of kindness daily, remember to say I love you often.

I could go on and on but you guys  know what I mean, after all you support has meant the world to me. Your an amazing bunch of big hearted guys and gals.

OoOoooooOOOOOOoooooooo Pauletta, cool new stuff. My swap bin is nearly empty, I need to restock as well or quit swapping.

I am finally down to my last batch of eggs to hatch, I am quitting for a few months after this; it's just too much work to keep up with chicks and chickens and home and work and life.

I'm finally back into the world of poultry. Went to the auction today and brought home seven dozen eggs, six made it to the incubator, the other dozen are for breakfast. I paid a whopping $6 for all seven. $1.75 for 1doz Barred Americanas, $2.25/doz Pekin duck eggs, $0.25/doz for bantams (look like serama eggs from my novice eye), $0.25/doz for random large brown eggs (half of which made it to the fridge, they looked tastey) and $1.50/3 doz EE eggs (about six made it to the fridge, figured the kids would enjoy eating eggs from blue eggs). I also have 30 button quail eggs coming from a soap swap, and 12 silkie/showgirl eggs (covered by a showgirl lavender roo) from another soap swap. I'm in heaven. The six dozen eggs only filled up one tray of my incubator... When I told the boyfriend this, he just said "how many pens are we going to have to build?" LOL!

gig.gifWelcome to the dark side. Patty has the cookies :P If all those hatch.... wow lol

I just came in from stealing eggs from my ducks. I am a bit scared she is going to go broody before may swaps start. I am getting eggs every day from my big girls. I only get one every other day from my little girls. If the duck goes broody I wonder if I can use her to incubate my chicken eggs? Has anyone done this before?

I tot tally understand.  I may have more. Going through closets and etc.  Clearing out and reorganizing. I love Rubbermaid containers to organize!  I always say, if you haven't used it, wore it, oh even remembered you had it  in 6-12 months it's time to go!

I hope a good number of them hatch! I plan to take all of the chicks that hatch back to the auction and sell them off! I figure I can do this every few weeks... Buy cheap eggs, incubate (and "store" some in the fridge) and take back for sale. There were a lot more eggs that went for $0.50/dozen, but I tried to stick with only certain ones. Only the first few batches went for $0.25, then my big mouth made the mistake of saying to someone that hell, if worst came to worse, you could open an egg of each, check for fertility, and if they weren't fertile, they were a hell of a lot cheaper than even farm fresh eggs at the cheapest place selling them. Good breakfast! But after I said that, people around started buying them up for $0.50/dozen.

It was funny though, if they didn't get a bid at a dollar, they started dropping it immediately to $0.25 and checked me first. I ended up leaving a little early because the kids were getting a little cranky (showed up about an hour and a half before starting time), and someone beside me laughed and said I might have forgotten some eggs. All the eggs were sold though, only a few birds left, then on to the rabbits.

I am not sure there is one of those auctions near me....If there is Hubbie is in trouble....rofl

I only ever see cattle, horses, sheep, etc at our auction houses. I've only ever seen one horse I'd even think of buying at one of the auctions. Big huge Shire/Fresian cross. Drop dead beautiful w/ brains to boot.

We just started adding rabbits. I'm still iffy on them. Love love love lionheads, but we got velveteens.
