SO, you know, it's Independence Day, and most people, they cook out, shoot off fireworks... Me? I drove 1 hour + to Crystal River and bought 6 Appenzeller Spitzhauben chicks and a breeding pair of cream Brabanters. Yes, I KNOW you want pics, but of COURSE my camera battery is dead and needs recharging. (I walked out there, turned on the camera, aimed and.... "click" no battery life. So I'll post some tomorrow.

Yay!  More Bowies!  Yes, we want to see pictures.  Sounds like a fun Independence Day to me!

hide.gif I've been told not to have pheasants and chickens together because of disease, but that was only after all my pheasant died within 4 hours of each other and the chickens were fine.  I looked it up on BYC and that is what I was told.  But it must be not that big of a problem.  Guess I'm just gunshy because of my experience.  Didn't mean to steer anyone from pheasant.  They are quite amazing birds.

Aw, thanks for remembering! Actually I hope they are more "Harleys" because of the 3 chicks I hatched from that pairing I got 2 Bowies! LOL. Seller *thinks* she only got 4 cockerels of the 20+ chicks she ordered, so hopefully the ratio is in my favor! fl.gif

You got to share what you know, and you did. thumbsup.gifI also read all the time about not mixing turkeys and chickens and then I read about how turkeys live just fine with chickens. Who knows? I can't really get into pheasants anyway, but that fella sure is beautiful!

ok, probly wait til i have a broody again, my incubator is about to be full of 500 or so bobwhite quail eggs for a friend. And i will have 15 meat turkeys and 25 "bargain" chicks coming the week of the 23rd. So wouldnt have room in the brooders for more chicks, thats why i gave the Ancona the eggs i had in the bator.

Her chicks would have hatched on my bday, the 20th. The Ancona's are on the 14th. I was hoping on some birthday chicks, oh well, theres always next year right? tongue.png
